<abstract xml:lang="ru">

 <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">

The article examines the cognitive-pragmatic function of persuasiveness in mediapolitical discourse based on English-language publications covering the Brexit period. The aim of the research is to identify the ways in which media texts are cognitively organized to promote a particular interpretation of Brexit in the perception of the audience. The growing emphasis on persuasive strategies in the coverage of political events in English-language media underscores the relevance of this research. The object of the research is mediapolitical discourse, and the subject is the linguopragmatic mechanisms of persuasiveness implemented through framing in the representation of the political event.
The research uses cognitive and linguopragmatic approaches to discourse analysis. In the analytical section, discursive and contextually pragmatic methods are applied to the analysis of media texts. Frame analysis is conducted on a corpus of English-language publications on Brexit from Bloomberg, The Week, Business Insider, and data from the Reuters Institute. Persuasiveness in the research is viewed not as an act of direct persuasion, but as a result of interpretation formed within the framework of discourse.
The analysis revealed that the lexeme Brexit in media discourse is not used as a neutral designation. Its meaning extends beyond the dictionary definition and is shaped through interpretation within a specific context. It was established that the framing of the Brexit concept determines the selection and emphasis of semantic focal points. The event is represented through economic, geopolitical, and national sovereignty frames, creating a stable pattern of interpretation. The persuasive function of the media text is viewed as a result of cognitive and pragmatic mechanisms, manifested in the way information is presented. The text activates frames familiar to the reader, employs lexical means grounded in shared cultural knowledge, and organizes utterances according to the principle of relevance. Implicit evaluations and causal links play a crucial role. All of this contributes to shaping a preferred interpretation without explicit argumentation. The conclusions are supported by the selected corpus and are interpreted within the scope of the analyzed sources. The findings can be applied in the study of media discourse, political communication, and pragmalinguistics.
