Abstract (English):
The paper studies the characteristics of hockey players’ physical development during their training in youth athletic centers, and the role these characteristics play in professional selection. The work offers a possible solution to some biomedical issues of professional selection of young ice hockey players. The suggestion is that by providing pedagogical conditions based on individual age-related changes of the most informative morphological characteristics in young athletes we can increase the effectiveness of training from the very beginning. Therefore, the paper considers age-related characteristics of adaptation to physical exercise among 7-16 year old athletes based on the data on the dynamics of changes in the most important morphological criteria of physical development. The author has experimentally determined morphological status characteristics in order to individualize the training process so that it includes corrective actions aiming to preserve athletes’ health and has developed the standards to evaluate physical development that will allow determining the strengths and weaknesses of athletes’ morphological potential. They are to be used in shaping an individual model of a high class hockey player.
