The article analyses modern historian's points of view concerning the reasons, the course and the results of social and economic changes in Europe and America in the middle of the XIXth century. The author summarizes the industrial revolution consequences, singles out the common features as well as the specific lines in European and American social and economic history in the middle of the XIXth century.
