The article deals with the study of the religious and political situation in the Church of England during the period when William Laud was Archbishop of Canterbury in 1633-1645. The contemporary British historians working in this field of study begin to pay greater attention to the role played by King Charles I Stuart in the origin and rise of Laudianism.
