This article aims to draw the attention of novice researchers and their supervisors on shortcomings in planning and designing dissertations and theses, performed at the teaching professions. Currently published a large number of substantive and methodological literature, designed to assist degree candidates in the preparation, research, writing and designing of thesis. However, applicants and supervisors do not pay enough attention to the study of the requirements for the thesis, and make out their «image and likeness» of theses of other authors, while copying the mistakes of others and add their own. In this article the author attempted to point out the most common flaws and mistakes that occur in the dissertation. The article presents the General requirements for a master's thesis and examines the typical faults that occur when planning a study and documenting the results. Discusses typical mistakes in the most significant methodological characteristics that arise when planning and design undergraduates and graduate students thesis work; some recommendations for their elimination.
